Shrivardhan Beach

Sequestered between Diveagar and Harihareshwar at a distance of about 20 Kms Shrivardhan is an obvious choice of sightseeing near Harihareshwar. Shrivardhan is a secluded fine black sand beach tucked between two hillcks with the Kalcha - Jivana fishing village at its northern end.

Shrivardhan is a secluded beach near Harihareshwar with sun kissed sands on a spectacular beach. Shrivardhan has a nice atmosphere with unpolluted air and the beach at Shrivardhan is a clean beach. Shrivardhan is a nice place to spend an evenings watching the sunset. The renowned Peshwa Balaji Vishwanath was born in Shrivardhan and was later decorated as the first Peshwa of Maratha kingdom by the Sahu Maharaj.

History of Shrivardhan for over 200 years is filled with magnificent tales of Maratha warriors and their valiant efforts to preserve the Hindavi-Swaraj. The renowned Peshwa Balaji Vishwanath was born here and was later decorated as the first Peshwa by the Sahu Maharaj. The Peshwas ruled the Maratha kingdom on behalf of the kings for over a century till the British overcame them.

Somajal Devi temple in Shrivardhan is believed to have a diety of miracles. Locals here make unbelievable claims of "Venom Neutralisation" by the devi and it is pretty common to see snake bite victims praying to the Goddess to extract the venom and heal them in this temple!!

Kondivali beach in Shrivardhan is a very secluded cove and at one end of the beach is the Kalcha Jivana fishing port. Every evening auction of the catch happens here. Though not as huge an affair as that in Harnai the auction here is also an interesting event to witness. If you are the adventure seeker you can speak to the fisher men to take you along for fishing at night (at your own risk), its an absolutely exhilirating and humbling experiance at the same time!
